    ... we could get close to ...in fact we walked through some and, as already mentioned, we drove through one tree trunk!The first part of the road home was about 30 miles of sharp bends and hairpins with a speed limit of 10-25mph which the cars in front kept too. Nevertheless the views continued to be stunning. We drove past rivers, a reservoir and large orange groves and on into the sunset! A bloody good day. They do have a lot of scenery here and everything is bigger in America.

    ... came around a bend and there it was, stretching away from us forever; an endless sagebrush dessert. This morning we explored a large lake that lay like a mirage on the dessert. An expanse of pale blue shimmering within a landscape of pale green.
