Left West Monroe by 11am. Arrived in Broussard about 3:30pm with two dog stops including one in Opelousas for a fish sandwiches from Burger King for a late lunch. It was raining but we found the La Quinta easily. They let us check in a little early and gave us treat bags for the dogs!

... for people waiting. We commandeered two rockers for a couple of hours of people watching. Best thing seen - dude wearing a long flowing skirt that looked like it belonged to his girlfriend walking with him and carrying a unicorn pillow. Love it! ... amazing....so delicious and everyone loved it. After dinner we cleared up and had s'mores using the stove as we don't have a fire and complemented the marshmallows with Nutella and Hershey's chocolate. ... Keno from 5 - 9; truckers stop for there regular bowl of gumbo and people were friendly. The chicken sausage gumbo was tasty and Darren had a platter of seafood and then some. Grilled catfish, softshell crab, oysters, frog legs, shrimp, baked potato and seafood etouffe.

We topped the evening off toasting Mom with Whitehouse ice cream. Vanilla and marchino cherries - it was good! Thanks Mom!!!

Walking in the heat of the day and touring the U.S.S. Kidd is hot and tiring. Let's look into the "Exit Now--Interstate Exit Directory" [an inch thick spiral bound book] and find a place within a short distance, stop for an overnight, and just rest.     Wonderful people, very helpful and friendly. And the BEST hotel breakfast we've had anywhere! Very clean. Very nice. Front desk even had a bag of treats for each dog.
