Left West Monroe by 11am. Arrived in Broussard about 3:30pm with two dog stops including one in Opelousas for a fish sandwiches from Burger King for a late lunch. It was raining but we found the La Quinta easily. They let us check in a little early and gave us treat bags for the dogs!

Woke up to rain today. After breakfast drove over to St. John's church which was built in 1821. Next to it was an amazing oak tree that is over 500 years old.
We then drove to the factory where Tabasco sauce is made. Angie was in heaven. Got some free samples to take along.
On the way back to the hotel, Spotted another casino, Cypress Bayou. Had to make another stop.

Left San Antonio after breakfast at about 10 a.m. Went by the church to leave the candle, but it was locked up. Will look for another one. Got on the freeway, and only got lost twice trying to find I-10 east! The trip to Houston was quite pretty. Farmland and ranches. Saw a lot of billboards saying to stop at Buc-ee's. We had to check it out. It was like a roadside rest area, gas station, snack and souvenir ...
... McIlhenny as they must have said "Mackle-henny" 17 times during the film. So now when I look at a Tabasco bottle the "McIlhenny Co." and "Avery Island, LA" on the label will have much more meaning.
We got to sample all the usual flavors and some more unusual ones Habanero/Garlic Pepper/Sweet N Spicy/Buffalo. We also tried a Raspberry one that was really interesting but I have no idea what you would put it ...

Wonderful people, very helpful and friendly. And the BEST hotel breakfast we've had anywhere! Very clean. Very nice. Front desk even had a bag of treats for each dog.
