Got ready to leave yesterday and discovered that the Windows program on our computer would not operate! Mike worked at it all day and still no luck. So we stayed the night and got up in the morning to try again. Thought we had success and prepared one more time. With a deadline of 2 p.m. to make a decision, we're waiting we baited breath.
Brunswick, Georgia, United States jusnowJust to let everyone know, we're leaving Brunswick tomorrow morning, at last. The fellow re-doing our sail system arrived this morning with our sail, put it up and was gone by noon. Wow, it looks great Of course, we need the cover yet. That will be the week after Thanksgiving. However, we are now ready to start the trek south. We hope to be in St. Augustine by Saturday where we'll stay until we have the sail cover.

We started the tour at a welcome center of sorts where we saw two short movies about the island. We also visited the local post office. Then we went to see the local cemetery, and an Indian shell mound. After that, we went to see the "summer house" of RJ Reynolds, the cigarette magnate, ironically, who died from emphysema, a disease caused by the cigarettes he sold. He had four wives, so I guess life with him was not easy ...
... past years. I like boring...especially if it means secluded beaches, wildlife galore, charming little shops, live oaks with spanish moss swaying in the breeze, and local residents that you become friendly with over the years.
A word of warning: it is really a boring place to vacation. Go to Myrtle Beach, instead. Leave Jekyll Island to those of us who enjoy being bored at least one week out of the year.
stayed at the King and Prince Hotel, really nice rooms, recently renovated, comfortable mattresses, roomy, good views of the beach, pretty good food at hotel, better food in local restaurants. Great Realtor on St. SImons Island, Ann Barnes w/ Signature Properties Group, Inc., here looking for a house and she found exactly what we wanted.
Saint Simons Island, Georgia, United States letsallgoI have been coming to St. Simons Island for as long as I can remember and have always loved it. Lots of great memories here from all different periods of my life. I can always count on nice nice weather, great accommodations, and being over fed by my wonderful Grandmother...and that's pretty much what I got. Grandma and I, hung out, told jokes and stories and watch the Phillies ...

ST.SIMONS ISLAND,GA, Georgia, United States mainship... looking electricians "sizing up" the RV. We had to go back and move it to the Wal-mart parking lot. That maneuver didn't set too well with Clark & Co. Journeying on, in, and through the Island, we went to one of 2 historic areas; Old Town wasn't much of anything except a handful of decaying old houses at the original town site of Fernandia. The main historic district, several miles away, was awesome ...

We are running a little behind schedule still, but it has been a fun trip so far. We stopped at South of the Border to stretch our legs. The kids were not thrilled! LOL. But, the posed for a few pictures anyway.
Around 11:00 p.m. we stopped at the Flying J off Exit 29 of I95 in Georgia.
... turned into inns and even "common folk" can eat at the same tables where the exclusive 100 club ate. One of the most impressive cottages is that constructed by Richard Crane, the plumbing magnate. It had twenty-one bedrooms and seventeen baths, some having solid gold fixtures. Today Jekyll Island boasts not only this historic area but 10 miles of white sand beaches, four golf courses, numerous walking and biking trails, and numerous luxury hotels. Quite an island!
