Howdy from stormy Weatherford, Texas. We are having some very nasty weather right now but more on that later. We are fine, by the way.

We began our day at the parking lot of Walmart in Abilene. As I mentioned, it seems to be a very popular spot for truckers and there were far more when we woke up than when I signed off last night. Believe it or not, with all the trucks, lights and noise, we slept pretty well.

We had a beautiful drive continuing north through the Texas Hill Country to the Dallas/Fort Worth area -- more rolling hills and beautiful wildflowers. The Lake Mineral Wells State Park is lovely -- our campsite is wooded, secluded, and has a short trail down to the lake. I've been asked to include weather information in our blog -- thank you, Cindi. In Mineral Wells the elevation is 873 feet and we had highs in the ...

... able to go into the Visitors Center and look around. We realized that the hotel we are staying in, is actually right inside the gate of Fort Wolters. There is a Medal of Honor Memorial Garden just down the street. After shopping, we brought daddy back to the hotel so he could rest. Then Bob went to Walmart while mom & I went to Save-a-Lot and Dollar Tree. When we returned to the hotel, we finished the game of dominos we had started this ...

It is Sunday, March 2, 2014. We spent the night with my mother then loaded to start our first adventure to explore the west side of the United States. As we arrived in the Dallas area we were greeted with an ice storm!! This was a challenge to drive through to arrive at Runaway Bay, Texas. Yes, it slowed us down but it wasn't severe enough that we had to stop as Galen persevered through all the white storm ...
