... then decided to abandon that stopover. We headed out about 4:35 pm after discovering that Elizabeth was in need of a new rear tire. 40 km into the ride, the sky lit up with bolt and sheet lightening and we headed for the first gas station in Fenton, Louisiana which provided shelter during the subsequent downpour. The building shook with the thunder for 15-30 minutes. We were finally able to get back on the road by 6:03 ...
... being delivered. We struggle to imagine ordering a house online for delivery! I had my first experience of driving on the wrong side of the road - didn't like it one bit. It was quite a short stint until I handed it back over to James. We stopped at Natchitoches, a quaint little town by the river packed with huge expensive homes. Before leaving the sheriff told everyone that he would see them on Sunday at church (which everyone says to everyone in the south). Tomorrow we have a short ...
After a light shower overnight (we stayed dry), today was absolutely perfect. We relaxed all day, doing our own little things. Sherry read her book on a float in the water, Debby laid on her lawn chair in the sun, and I went for a long walk exploring the campground. We had grilled pork chops (not squirrel) for dinner, with wild rice, and French cut green beans with sautéed onions and mushrooms. The bathhouse showers are nasty here (thank God for shower shoes) and tonight was ...
