WOW, WOW, WOW and WOW again! You should see this place. the receptionist let us into our room and the view just hits you! Anyway, first things first. Collected at 0900 and taken to the domestic airport for our flight from BA to Bariloche. Pretty full plane, a bit like Ryan air except there were allocated seats. Several honeymoon couples on board who were making sure everyone knew it! Cows eyes, touchy feely, the lot - yuk! 2 hour flight so they served a snack - 3 biscuits! - and a glass of wa...
Bariloche, Argentina keithandshelley... to know someone had come in and gone through all our belongings. We immediately went to the office and confronted them. All of the sudden they couldn't speak ANY English - funny. So we kept fighting and finally they agreed to take what we were missing off our bill. Unbelievable. So now we take everything with us when we leave our room. We don't like to in case something happens to our bag. So, needless to say, we were ready to get out of this town.
Villa La Angostura, Patagonia, Argentina unbound... are! A short distance past this sign, we park the car on the road where we see a short path on the right leading up to a cave. We both duck into the cave opening and take a look around. There is some light streaming in from the cave opening. We pick out some white and orange markings on the cave wall and as we see them we exclaim "look at this!" Then the other says "look at this!" I set up my tripod and start taking exposures of ...
Villa Traful, Argentina journeyer... camera and souvenir shops, as well as outdoor cafes and restaurants line the street. It's charming! This really is a small town, if you turn off the main street you are on a gravel road. Finding a parking space was tough, yet it seems that there is ************e around. What is it like in busy season? After Los Alerces, we're now back into civilization! We opt for a pizza and salad and call it a day, returning to El Faro. We enjoy our ...
Villa La Angostura, Argentina journeyer... his mouth was still not numb, so the lady dentist went and got the male dentist who stuck another two injections right into the nerve, owww, ray was trying to get out of the dentist's chair through the floor. Three hours and 800 pesos later (only about NZ$350, that's pretty good for a root canal isn't it?) we were done, and so was our first day in Bariloche. We were told ray needed to come back in a week to get it finished. I said, shame we're leaving on ...
Bariloche, Argentina couplakiwis... and pursuit. It all came into play: solitude, danger, silence, and the urgency of my mission". They passed through primeval forest including Rauli trees, "the diameter of a horse." His companions marked them with machetes to use as "breadcrumbs" for the way back. They have to cross a river: "Soon my horse was almost completely covered by the water, I began to plunge up and down without support, my feet fighting desperately while ...
Peulla, Chile floriparan... we headed back to the main street to watch the garden flower parade, which mainly consisted of lots of little children having been dressed up by their parents in a variety of costumes and then paraded up and down until their feet could not carry them anymore. When the last child had collapsed out of exhaustion we moved on to the market and wandered around the stalls in the warm evening with a couple of piscolas. Mmmm Perfect! Back at the hostel, as ...
