Just a little 30 hour bus journey got us to Bariloche and the Lake District national park. We spent the day walking round lush green woods and lakes in a really beautiful but still very cold part of Argentina. We spent the morning getting very lost trying to find a walking trail that had been recommended and after two hours of avoiding being eaten by lots of wild dogs, we asked someone and found out we had gotten off the bus way too early and were miles ...

After having dinner, we were very tired so we went to bed earlier than usual. Inside the tent, we set ourselves up to play a last game of cards for the night. For none of us was it our first time camping but for all of us it was the first time camping as a family! It definitely won’t be the last!

... the lake and then went for a walk up a mountain in the opposite direction to see a waterfall. It was a lovely day and the woods are incredible! On the way back from my walk I picked up some veggies and a merluza fillet to make for dinner. I arrived back to the hostel to find that a bunch of people had congregated and were all making dinner together! Oh well, at least I have enough for lunch ...

Villa la Angostura vs the Volcano

... the shores by the crystal clear water (how can it be that clear in a lake??) and sat on the "sand and rock" which is actually varied size pieces of ash. We wandered through the Bosque de los Arrayanes, where we were surrounded by the huge red trees that inspired Walt Disney in his woodland settings for Bambi.

We could've stayed in Villa la Angostura for a week, but moved on to the next town of Bariloche, known as a tourist haven ...
