... Simone and I booking flights out of Iquitos to Lima and Tarapoto, respectively, for Monday. When we got back to the hostel, everyone was ready to go, so we loaded into a couple tuk-tuks and headed out to Nanay port. On the way, it started downpouring hard and by the time we were under the cover of the boat we were completely drenched. The boat took a half hour and we sat down for a beer when we arrived in the tiny Patacocha port. After the beer, we loaded into Jim's vehicle, ...

This was a fairly dull day. I had fun taking pictures of the girls in the Yellow Rose of Texas restaurant this morning. (Check out my previous blog entry.) The photos were a big hit on Facebook with all their friends. Photography is a fun hobby that I've been fortunate enough to have done as a semi-professional over the years. ... seen. The vast expanse of green. I now have perspective. If we lose an area of the Jungle bigger than two football pitches, every day for the next century, it would barely make a visible impact, (seen from the air). Not that I'm advocating environmental insensitivity for the sake of it, but I used to feel sad when I saw the number of Metro newspapers left rotting on the Tube every day. The brainwashing my peers and I received in primary school, a classic example of society being made ...

... There is a whole sloth family living with the locals. One of the kids shows us an Auywaska painting that he did. First time the boy has tried the plant, and he is only 15. After a million photos, we head back to the boat. When we get back Kid goes somewhere for a while, we dont know what he is doing, but he brings back a huge spider, it's Tranchular time! My worst nightmare! So furry, so ugly, this thing can jump, I scream, it's crawling over everyone. This is scary stuff. It goes ...
