I am actually surprised that I am not writing this from the library, which is where I now spend all of my days trying to write my ISP (independent study project). My marriage to the library is why I didn't write last week, because I didn't have anything too exciting to report. It's actually pretty cool, I have my own desk in the "Law and Politics Reading Room" at the United Nations Library which overlooks the UN grounds, the lake, and ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland chelseyineuropeToday, Saturday, I slept in until about 8:30. I slept well enough. We had brunch at about 10:00: dark bread, butter, honey, local goat cheese, and two kinds of quiche, accompanied by fruit juice and strong Swiss coffee (excellent). Our conversation continued about many things. About 11:00 I had a counseling session in one of the rooms in the house, and the rest of the Sabbath group arrived about noon. It was good to see everyone again, though we had just seen ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... usually call it Lac Léman, a name that dates from the Roman Empire), was covered in clouds as was Geneva itself. Beyond the lake the snow-covered Alps were starkly visible against a bright blue sky.

We flew the long approach from north to south over the lake, descending into the clouds as we did so, it was rather gloomy on the ground as we touched down. At the gate, an immigration agent checked our passports even before we entered the airport proper. Then they were checked ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... in the background. Once again living up to my reputation for being an obnoxious kid magnet. What were they doing to that kid? Couldn't they inject him with a sedative?

So, I sat and sat and sat and stared at an orthopedic surgical wrap poster. The company offered 22 various wraps/bandages, which were to aid various parts of the body from literally the neck to the toe.

Normally I would have pulled out my ...
Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland trockie... the hotel its just on the border of france and switzerland and its minging basic travel lodge type hotel with nothing at all to do in the area. We had no money no food or anything luckily the hotel around the corner sold something that they said was pizza although we are not sure what it was but we got some ate it and went to bed as we are up really early in the morning!
Ferney-Voltaire, Rhône-Alpes, France traceybelleFrom there we went to Geneva to meet up with Conor and Diane. Since we got there so early, Jon and I started touring the city and randomly ran into them, and Conor’s parents, at the UN building. So we toured the city with them, went to the biggest flee market selling all sorts of random sutff (mostly garbage). WE also ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sofenjonWe sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France sofenjon... me to pull up my jeans, and I was trying to show her my best effort. Anyway I managed to get them on (all the while, Tony sitting patiently in the shop - Julie-Anne has trained him well it seems). OK, then it is time to take the boots off. So Madame is pulling and tugging on the boot to get it off my foot. Tony reckoned she nearly fell backwards into the shoe rack! It did look funny. Anyway, she was very happy with her sale and I am very happy ...
Geneva, Switzerland suily... and headed out of Geneva to the country. We stopped for a stretch and walk along the lakeshore port and took in a lunch. No time to rest. We were going to function on what ever sleep we ecked out on the plane. It was 11:00 and bedtime doesn't roll around till 23:30
Lausanne, Switzerland druhealey... train/bus times and hostels, we had to go buy food, and meds (to rid myself of the sickness). All I can say is that the Euro is insane. Everything was at least half the price at home. I'm so glad that I did my shopping at MEC. Anyways, off to pack for the trip...need to borrow lots of sweaters from Roxanna b/c we've heard it's cold in Germany.
