The reason I love Sharm el-Sheikh so much is it's a holiday mecca! The place - a gorgeous sea view beach setting - has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Yes it's nice to see the locals and culture on holidays, but here you don't experience the down sides of this. From clubbing to quading in the desert, diving to fine food, this place has everything for an enjoyable ...

Only a 4 1/2 hour flight, arrive earlier than normal so a couple of hours sunlight left. Interesting journey via taxi to the hotel, which included having to get out of it as we got grounded on a sleeping policeman! Hotel is very spread out, nice gardens. First rooms not to good but the girls manage secure new ...

... along the Nile on the way home. This was going to add at least an hour to our drive, making us arrive back at the ship long after it was supposed to have sailed. The drivers were quite upset about that, guns were brandished, and soon the drivers' licenses were confiscated, a police escort joined us, and we set off up the Nile. It was actually very interesting because we travelled through towns and cities all along it, seeing the real people walking around, living their normal ...

... all inclusive type of place, where we rubbed elbows with some of the UK's budget all inclusive type travellers...I know I'm being a bit snobby here but yikes! Anyway it was $32 and included a buffet brekkie, there were a couple of pools and the room was nice so we did OK.

But like I said, the reason we were there was to dive and that we did. The first day we had some bad luck and the dive we really wanted to do (the 2nd scheduled dive of ...
