Zoo & a bit of history

Matt and I headed off to the Koelner Zoo on the metro. It was lovely: very green, glass exclosures. There was a big family of elephants (about 16), 3 hippos who were having fun in the water and making loud noises and showing off their large teeth. Matt loved the orangatangs (the babies were playing) and the cheetahs (who were prowling up and down). A flock of flaming pink flamingo's and long legged ducks.

... extensive and used to extend into Belgium and all together was over 200km in length. During WWII 15 people were able to escape Germany using the caves. Back to Gemund now to repack our bags as the weight limits on SAS are quite restrictive and we are going to have to make use of all 4x23kg checked baggage and all 4x8kg cabin baggage that we have between us. ... and horse. Better yet, the campsite had a bar that was open, rather full, and ready to provide mussels etc. if required - so we could have dined three times over, in the space of three miles, at three pm on a Sunday afternoon. We settled for a beer and spent the evening surfing with the best, free, Wifi so far. Maybe something to do with this part of Europe being flat.
