We were ready, but the Swiss weren't! The most memorable part of the journey was not the beautiful scenery, the picture postcard lakeside villages, the mountains, or the waterfalls. Instead, it was the 2 hour queue waiting to get through the 17km Gotthard-Strassentunnel on the A2. That meant our planned stop in Lucerne was abandoned, and we got to Strasbourg at about 9pm. The exertions and worries of the past 24 hours had taken their toll on my GLW, who eschewed supper and headed back to the hotel for an early night. I stayed.
