We woke to blue skies and sunshine in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. There was a large crowd gathering across from us on the quayside, at first we thought it was a demonstration of some kind as throngs of people gathered, but it was the locals who had come out to watch a huge flotilla of vessels on this special day when in Spain Christmas is celebrated. The boats, tugs and ships hooters, including the 3 cruise ships were blasted following a ...

What I was most looking forward to now was the end of the tree-line, which I knew meant I would be nearing the top. The scenery was very picturesque with views of the ocean, salt water pools, banana plantations and very steep ravines. The tour itself was disappointing and the ...

... I could have done with being trocarised to relieve some of the bloat. Really uncomfortable, but self-inflicted. :-(

So I decided I wasn't going to eat or drink anything more tonight. No going to the show, no going to the Golden Lion. I just went back to our stateroom and read my really good book and watched some TV. Actually, it was quite nice to have an early night, as most nights we had stayed up well after midnight, and sometimes even ...

... fish as the rest of Europe, and it's so healthy as well.

We bought some more postcards then went for the inevitable cold beer, before making our way back to the QE and pottering around on board. In fact it is just so pleasant just to sit out on our balcony, and I had brought a really good book, a detective thriller called Looking Good Dead by Peter James. I read a few chapters while enjoying a cold glass of some ...
