... you could see it´s shape clearly, hanging from a tree branch. Not only that, but a little ways down was yet another sloth, this time with it´s face more clearly visible.

Add in a dozen more monkeys and another great iguana, and we eventually made our way out of the park, quite satisfied with our wildlife sightings for the day. After a few drinks on yet another beach, we made our way back to Quepos to figure out a plan for how we would get to Panama.
San Isidro-- Driving the Moutain of Death

... the Moutain of Death.

The Moutain of Death is a mountain range on the InterAmerican Highway that got that name long before cars were around when people used to cross this moutain range by foot, horse, or donkey. Many people died back then and this moutain was almost the dealth of poor Wesley as well! We barely made it over the pass as Wesley was sputtering, blowing smoke, and wouldn´t go over 40 kms. We even pulled over and Devin replaced the fuel filter as ...

Day 6 - Quepos

... where we stopped to walk across a bridge. Boy did the sun feel harsh. In the marsh below the bridge were a few floating logs... wait! That one moved! They were crocs! Yikes. Thank goodness for the guard rail, they did not look friendly. Some of them were so still for minutes at a time, they looked almost docile. But as soon as one would yawn and give a glimpse of those angry teeth, I would shudder. The walk across the bridge was the first opportunity for me ...

... the phone down than our taxi was outside the door. Lo and behold, it is the exact same taxi driver who had been hassling us at the bus stop! If there were awards for the most over-commercialised and tourist-infested nature reserve in the world then Manuel Antonio National Park would be in the nominations and would probably win. The town nearest to the park entrance, Quepos, is a full 7km away, and rather than being a nice route through the outskirts of ...

Day 7- Leaving Monteverde for Quepos, Wednesday

... way.. these have oil berries and are widely produced in this area. We were surprised when we came to the beautiful oasis, the Blue Banyon Inn. Jim and Barbara (gracious owners of Blue Banyan Inn) told us we were the only family renting the rooms. We had the entire area to ourselves and we could swim till our heart's content. Jim took us to town to eat and suggested the El Avion. We loved it. Then we swam till our heart's content..

... While on the tour, we learned about the plants (both indigenous and not), and also saw a number of different types of lizards, monkeys, bats and sloths. The only down-side of the tour was that it was brutally hot if there was no shade. As it was that hot at 9:00 a.m., I could only imagine how hot it would be later in the afternoon. After the tour, we stayed in the park and whiled away the rest of the afternoon at one of Manuel ...
