... in the Beast for the last stop, L'Estartit, another town they haled as delightful. We booked into the most expensive campground yet but didn't care as we were hot and just needed to stop. A M ventured to Cadaques to tour Dali's house . After seeing museum and house I am now an official Dali fan ( wasn't before) Picnic on the way to Girona by way of lovely town of Besalu, and a swim at Banyoles. Stayed 2 nights at Pension Bellmirall .Tapas & Rosata for dinner. Breakfast on patio.

To the old phrase " only mad dogs and Englishman go out in the midday sun", you may add KNBC cyclists. We headed off from Argele sur mer about 8 and headed down the coast. Spectacular scenery, but the idea that we were finished climbing quickly turned out to be a myth. Each village along the coast involves a descent with a subsequent climb on the other side. ... had I not stopped to ask a local for directions, but seeing how he spoke only Spanish and I speak relatively none, it made for an interesting exchange.

Also interesting was the farmhouse(?) I passed on the edge of Garragas, that had one wing adorned with lions and penguins, and a solarium containing some mannequins - it all seemed very Michael Jackson-y.

DAY 12/June 25: Argeles-sur-Mer to Girona

... and generous as anyone, but then there's too often the exact opposite. So we will try again tomorrow, down the road.

It was a quick trip down the highway to Girona for Caroline, Lucie and Arthur so they enjoyed lunch and an afternoon of visiting the old town in the centre of Girona. We headed back their ourselves later, relatively quickly and conveniently on the city bus, for a bit more sight-seeing and dinner. ...
