Corso Alcide DeGasperi 320 Bari, Puglia, Italy, 70125, 39-80-5648789
After our glorious day in Dubrovnik, we decided to head over to Southern Italy for a few days. Our decision to go to Bari, Italy was totally random. We didn't have a tour book for Italy, knew nothing about the town we were entering, and had no idea what we'd do there. But we wanted to take the overnight ferry and Italy seemed like a good destination. Our ferry ride was quite nice, as we had a relatively large and comfy cabin. We spent a couple hours playing some wild and exciting rounds of Wa...
Bari, Italy connieycHey!!! It's been awhile since I've updated because our internet hasn't been working lately. It's hard to remember what i've done since Rome!! Last Thursday Pino took us shopping in Lecce. First we went to a designer store. OY! It was much to expensive for me, but it was pretty cool to go to. Lecce is absolutely beautiful and i've decided that when (not if) I live in Italy, i'm going to live in Lecce. They have really nice shopping and beautiful buildings. We got pastries and cappucinos, looke...

... shouldn't have taken the first agent's word for it. Seemed to be ships sailing at all hours - must surely have been one with space on it overnight? Definitely the only way to do this route. However, we get by: but I wouldn't recommend Ventourist line: cheap, for sure; but tacky -very, very tacky!Another night in an anonymous port.

Bari, Apulia, Italy marcdolav... about his personal reading experience and embed that into his reviews, rather than dismissing it as distractions.

Here the rub: this is the one book Hornby book I actively disliked (although did find A Long Way Down and Slam disappointing). But I reckon it was the overly self-consciously meta recurrent gag about the eponymous fictional periodical that soured me on the book and that the innovative ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy david_chungAfter a short amount of time in Pompei we hopped on a train to Bari. We took an overnight ferry to Croatia. We just about missed the boat because our train was late. So we did what you should never do, we accepted a cab ride from a random at the station claiming to be a taxi. Generally it's safe, but I still never think its good to get ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy burles... It was edible, if not a bit onthe lukewarm side. We scoffed down food with Calvin and chatted. After dinner we went back to "our seats" and gathered a group to play Phase 10, including Calvin. The game was good fun, other people were playing Guess Who and Barbie Uno. we wrapped it up midnight ish..and headed to bed. Cory came first, Calvin last..ah well.. the luck of the game. No alarm and giving breakfast a miss tomorrow..sleep in!
Bari, Puglia, Italy jasndan... Italian, it was little surprise to find that this was once part of ancient Magna Graecia; in fact you are more likely to stumble upon Greek temples than you are Roman ruins. Known in Italy as a land of myth and fable, this little region was clearly full of surprises.

Whenever I think back to the first day in Basilicata, images of mountains, beautiful scenery and sunny skies fill my thoughts - a lovely start to the holiday!
Bari, Puglia, Italy louise123This is where Pietro, an old Italian guy, jumped into Bruce and navigated us to the trulli. He saved us from a traffic jam in the narrow streets of Puglia.

Pete was also called Pietro while in Italy. :-)

Trullo comes from the Greek word, "tholos" – meaning “dome”. See the pictures of the wee houses.

We found the Belvedere pub here too - also the name of our local in Aus – meaning “beautiful view”. It was beautiful.
Putignano, Puglia, Italy broose09... no casualties they whip a the rescue vehicles in and remove the offending cars to the next services (conveniently every 25km of so) and then the police set about sorting out the mess. On one of my breaks I had occasion to witness two of these rescues ongoing in the services and it struck me as so funny, the drivers of caved in bumpers and side panels jump down from the rescue trucks, walk around their bent vehicles scratching their heads and ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy laineebeeJust a quick note today, unfortunately, as the internet connection is dreadfully slow. We awoke last Friday in our orange grove, 30 km outside of Messina, to a torrential downpour complete with thunder and lightning. Still fighting this on and off food poisoning, we had taken a sick day the day previous and I literally did not stray more than 5 m from our tent all day. Ainaz toughed it out and made the journey to the ...
