One of the endearingly infuriating habits of my husband (hello dear!) is that we never stay in a hotel without moving rooms once. Or twice. The first room is too noisy ( despite having pre-requested the quietest room at the back) or perhaps it is too light or too near the lift. Room 306 in the Grand Marina Hotel seemed huge and delightful. The very, very faint smell of smoke would, I thought, disappear. At 2.30 a.m ...

Quito was much larger than we'd imagined, for some reason we had it in our heads that it would be quite small a bit like La Paz but no. Its huge! It has a nice old town again and whilst we were there we managed to attract torrential rains. We explored a bit but mainly used it is a base to organise a few things.

... we are parked next to a couple from Newcastle (Keith and Dot)!, they seem to have had a catalogue of disasters, including the failure of the domestic electrical system in the van, and, having the waste water outlet damaged. The local Campervan Garage have managed to fix the Electrics, but, they are having to wait for a part to fix the waste water outlet.
