... views were incredible. We looked across to ice and rock glaciers and could see mountain peaks well into the distance. As there was practically no breeze we had no trouble picking a lunch spot with an amazing view where we dined on all the goodies Katarina had packed for us. We met a couple of other walkers on the saddle - who had a daughter in Auckland!

Unfortunately Erin discovered she was missing her compass so couldn't take any measurements at the ...

... evening we wandered through town and went to TripAdvisors #1 restaurant in Tirano, Contadi Gasparotti. It was amazing! A set menu of 6 dishes for only €15. The lady makes all the food herself. She also grows all the grapes for the wine she serves! Incredible. The menu included meats and cheeses, crepes, amazing potato/bean mix, and delish apple cake to finish. We were so full!!! A lovely balmy night (one of the only nights we haven't been in pants and ...

A beautiful sunny day! We headed up to Lago di Cancano, a 11km climb from the van. 17 hairpins and 2 tunnels cut through the mountain. At the summit were two stunning lakes. We rode around both of them. There were a few houses up there. Would love to live there! Absolutely spectacular! There ...

... cars, motorcycles, bicycles and people everywhere. The coffee shops were doing a roaring trade. Whilst at the summit, which is at 2980m we decided to take a ride up the two cable cars on to the glacier for a look where people were doing some summer skiing. The drive back down was almost as hairy as the way up, though the traffic was much lighter now. We got the Bambina back in one piece after a most enjoyable drive. Another tick off the bucket list for JK.

We drove to Sondrio (1hr) to go to the special police station to sort out Lis' working visa. They were very helpful but we need to go back again on Thursday. By the time we got back to Bormio the rain had cleared and the sun was shining! We found a camp ground in Valdidentro (10km from Bormio) as we desperately needed a ...
