Leaving the hills behind, we head for the Valencian coast and our last stop before our arrival at our apartment. We have decided to stop at Benicassim. I know nothing about the place, other than that there is a huge music festival there every year... but not when we are passing through. We are not expecting very much... The nearest I have been to one of these types of music festival is glimpses of rain and tents in muddy fields ...
... a parade of cows, but we were treated to bullfighting without the violence and without the traditional dress....in fact, it was more like a training session for "would-be" matadors! There were three or four wooden structures spaced around the arena for the young guys to jump onto or grab and hoist themselves up or if they were close enough, they could run for the vertical bars and edge through.....behind them is where we stood....in relative safety!
... on a Saturday and noticed a poster on the door of the restaurant cum bar. One of the campers used to be a professional singer and was on stage in the bar at 7pm that night. Despite a reasonable drive from the other side of Barcelona, we grabbed the last two seats on a table near a lively bunch from Ireland. Well, this geezer was knocking on a bit but he was in fine voice and his repertoire was pretty broad, anything from Sinatra to Elvis ...
... them as today started off with some rain and was cold. So, we took a drive out into the countryside, did the shopping on the way back and stopped for a lunch of 4 courses; Salad, then Mussels, followed by Octopus and Squid Paella, Spanish Flan ( Caramel Custard) a bottle of wine and coffee. All for 10 Euro each.

The factory is in a small town just north of Valencia. We arrived fairly early and found ourselves in the first tour group of the day. Most parts of the various figurines are molded plaster. The more complex pieces have several different molds. When each piece is rigid enough they are "welded" together with additional wet clay. The figurines are then painted by hand and ultimately fired.
