For those who have not been on a eye expedition the mornings after surgery are, without hyperbole, an experience on the level of a spiritual epiphany. At daybreak each morning, the patients who received surgery the prior day are led back to the clinic by their family members for us to remove the patches and evaluate their post surgical eye. Then, soon after I had woken up, we arrived at the beach! It was so different than Cabarete because this wasn't a tourist beach.
