We landed in Libreville, Gabon to let some passengers off and to pick up some others. After all the departing passengers got off the plane, the flight attendants verified the owner of each carry-on bag in the overhead bins. Each of us had to claim our bags. This took several minutes but was a good security measure. Then they sprayed the plane for mosquitos. They reassured us that this spray was not harmful to us. How does it kill mosquitos, then? My first problem of the day began after breakfast when I spoke with the front-desk attendant about arranging a taxi to the ABC Transport booking office in the Falomo Shopping Center. The map in my book indicates it’s only about two miles but the first taxi driver he called wanted 3,000 naira ($18.40). He called another driver and we bargained down to N 1,500 ($9.20).
