... and much more straight forward. Wandered around the duty free and expensive shops. Good trip to Dubai and again the food on Emirates was very good. Nearly a 7 hour flight but time went very quickly. Left Rome at 10.55am - luckily we had internet access and we were with Dave and Christina because our itinerary tickets said our flight left at 12.05pm so would have missed it.

... Via Amari by the posh restaurants until the harbour, I turned right and followed the main road south to the marina and Castello a Mare. The maze of streets behind the marina - Palermo’s principal nightlife venue- was milling with well dressed young people, solicited by the succession of bars and restaurants with live music and giant teles screening the football. Here, all the dates have two or three numbers - 32 AD, for example. Crazy that they're still standing, especially when they're so huge and had some amazing engineering. common to see monks in their robes, padres in cossacks, nuns in full habits walking around Rome. Kinda neat. P.S. Rome not as crazy today. ...

Arrived in Rome

... is clean, which is all I really care about. We have to check out in an hour, head back to the airport to pick up our Rome passes, then make our way back to Rome to move into the apartment we have booked. Busy day. We will probably go to the Colosseum today. It's really scary not knowing what people are saying, we feel stupid when we have to mime things to the Italians. But still! So happy we finally made it!!!
