Today Ruth and I took a canoe on the lake. We wanted to explore it more close to the coast. It was great fun apart from the burden on your shoulders. After an hour of paddling, our shoulders and forearms were worn out. We then had a relaxing afternoon by the pool, followed by a last supper at home before moving on to ...

I wanted Bev to see this city as well, so we made this our starting point for the Italian leg of our trip. We stayed in an old style hotel right on the banks of Lake Lecco. After a short drive around the city we took a stroll along the waterfront and found a small Pizzeria where we had some dinner.

... keep our appointment. It is a great operation - I would rather book a time than line up for 2 hours like we will no doubt have to do at the Louvre. We were ushered in with a group of 25 people and had to go through 3 air locked rooms before we got to the fresco. It is all about preserving the work, which was painted onto the wall in the 1490s. It really is an amazing work, and I can understand why people read so much into it.

    The funny thing ...
