    ... while I was in Lyon and the heat made it even worse. All I wanted was my couch, chicken noodle soup, orange juice and HBO. Being sick put a damper on my time in Lyon and I was not able to explore the city like I wanted. Side note, I really appreciate the women who let me cancel part of my dinner order after seeing how sick I was.

    ... invigorated we want to check the David queue once more, just in case...YES! Much reduced, so we join queue, which feels like a torture for the tourists. Blazing sunshine..the sweat just drips off you & can't believe nobody faints! However after 45 mins we're in. Well worth returning too. To think David is 500 yrs old is astonishing...he is also so HUGE!

    back to the farmhouse around 8 pm...lie-in tomorrow methinks...

    After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...

    Last Sunday, June 2, was a special day in Montone - a religious celebration to commemorate 9-year-olds celebrating their first communion. I think it is called corpus domini. Before church that morning, townspeople and students from our group decorated streets with flowers. They made the flowers into religious symbols. After church, there was a ...

    ... is cool. I can walk around in coolness and even cold better than heat.

    We learned that the restaurant right on the piazza, just a few steps from our apartmente, has WiFi. Only took us two weeks to figure this out. So now we have better access to WiFi than we did before and all we have to do is invest in a cup of Americano coffee!
