      ... 8217;s Grt, grt, grt Uncle William had been a stretcher bearer in the NZ regiment that saved the town. We walked around and found the memorial to the NZers who had distracted the Germans by creating lots of smoke and they launched a surprise attack by climbing up a ladder they constructed to get them up the wall. It was a hot day and everyone was tired.

Of note were the numbers of very friendly ladies who kept smiling at us and giving the local salutation which seems to involve showing either one or both of your considerably large breasts. We went into Lille and found the Tourist Information office who gave us a map and showed us where the VNF Office is to get our license. We bought one for 16 days, so at last we are legal now.
