      ... the site are off limits due to unexploded ordnance, so grazing sheep are used to keep the grass down.










      Guedecourt, Masnieres and Monchy-le-Preux for the Newfoundlander's caribou. The bronze caribou, all identical, always face the direction of the battle. Each in its own well maintained plot, two with adjacent fields, one in the middle of town.

      ... train had just left, and the next one was in an hour. A belgium lady also appeared on the station and made enquiries of the staff who were doing their best to remain hidden. As it was just us on the station, gravitated together, and as she spoke fluent english, we chatted. Continued chatting when we were on the train till we exited, she was continuing on towards Brussels. Pleasant way to pass the journey home.

      Had to get up too early this morning. Packed the car and got an almond croissant which was the best croissant ever experienced apparently.       ... for the cross channel trains from London to Paris, and has a lot of war history from both world wars. Alana has been living here with a young French family as an au pair, teaching their girls to teach English.
