... Lourmarin. We pass the village of Rousillon. We have read that this is famous for its red ochre deposits. These are certainly very evident from the road. The petrol gauge has dropped very quickly. Maybe it hasn't dropped quickly at all. It might just be that I haven't been paying attention. I think that I can see it falling as we drive. I tell Issy to use the GPS to find the way to the nearest petrol station. The GPS appears to not know anything about where ...

Today is a rest day for the four travelers from Rockford, Maine and Walla Walla, Washington. None of us are as young as we used to be and sleeping in a new bed every two nights and walking five to seven miles everyday takes its toll. (That said, hats off to Cherie and Rich Bernave for walking 12+ miles a day on the Camino de Santiago!) Besides, it is Sunday, the day of rest, so it only ...

And so it starts. Annie and Rob's first bike tour. Starting in Avignon we had a 9.30 briefing with Fabrice, who gave us our bikes, itinerary, GPS and small hope. And then sent us straight up a bloody big long hill in what was to become the norm for the journey. It didn't take long for us to realise we were in for some sights of very old towns and villages and first point to view was Les Angles de Avignon where residents live in amongst century old ...
