We decided to get married on our trip, and couldn't think of a better place than Thailand - good value for money with a beautiful setting. Our friend Sly turned us on to La Flora Resort Patong on the island of Phuket. A brand new 5 star resort, La Flora is right on the beach in central Patong. Through the magic of good connections, we got an incredible deal, and stayed at a resort that costs literally thousands of dollars a night for just a tiny fraction of their normal rates. We had a suite ...

... little out of his way and show us a 4000-4500yr old cave paintings on some rock above the river (which i need to obtain the name of) in which we were traveling on. I was also fortunate enough to visit monkey cave and the sleeping Buddha. I've never seen so many monkeys in one place at the one time in my life. There were literally hundreds of long tailed monkeys running around waiting for one of the tourists to buy them ...
Ban Patong, Phuket, Thailand mjg008... Haha.. When they came back, we decided to pack our luggages as we were taking morning flights back to Singapore the next day! After that, we went back to Coconut Garden for dinner, yes, the same cafe again! Daddy AY ate & drank alot like there was no tomorrow, he even bought 2 banana pancakes from the street stall and ate! Wow! We went back to the hotel's lobby to have a chat before we returned to our rooms for our beauty sleep!
Phuket, Thailand sc_myinitial... really small and there are no motorized vehicles on the island. We then made it back to our beach after dinner and hung out wiht andra and stefan and this guy that was in our diving course in Koh Tao but happened to stay at the same resort as us in Ko Phi Phi. Ko Phi Phi is probably my favourite island so far as it is like a dream come true. Soft white sand beaches with blue blue water!! a must if you ever come to thailand Next entry for Phuket...
Phuket, Thailand fnishi... option on that particular morning. I doubt that the police would have been able to rouse us off of the public land just as long as we were not literally camped out on it per se. We could have stayed as long as we wanted or at least until night fall, but we could see that it was time to move on. The scene was still as breathtaking in it's grandeur but the neigborhood was beginning to awaken, with each house vomiting forth joggers and ...
Phuket, Thailand nealinthailand... mini bar, satelite tv, but the room was really naff. The only window faced into the corridor and the curtain was falling off it (Chris repaired it with the only coat hanger in the room), the bed linen was clean but extremely old (Chris said washday grey), our room was on the top floor and there was no lift, the whole place needed soundproofing, only 3 of the 5 light bulbs worked and there was old candle wax on the bathroom door handle. We saw the housemaids several times ...
Patong, Thailand alanandchris... some controls around who can operate tours and also some thought to implementing some Park Rangers with power to fine tour operators who let their tourists endanger the natural environment. OK, rant over. After snorkling it was lunchtime at Phi Phi Lay. A nice spread with more than enough to go round. After lunch we had an hour or so to relax which was nice but again, tourists who are ignorant to Thai customs frustrate me. After lunch we had a brief ...
Patong, Thailand maninthefield... that muddy hill back to our room i tell ya! Yep the poncho came out and i was proud of it (it lives in our handbags!) - was the only thing that sheltered us to an extent. We chilled on Ton Sai beach the first day and then went to Long Beach the next day as recommended by fellow travellers we met at the volcanoes. we chose to walk as recommended by this couple but we didn't realise it would be ...
Koh Phi Phi, Thailand sheenaangela... about old times and why he had bought a bar in Patong, as realistically, this is not Michael. He explained his reasons, and we were happy with them. As the evening moved along, another partner, Scotty, came over and invited us out for a day of boating around the islands. Michael mentioned that we could go diving, and that sold us both. We would have to change our flights, but it was an opportunity that was to good to miss out on. Also, since this trip began, we have used everything ...
