We arrived in Manfedonia just as it was getting dark to a 4 room B&B over looking the harbor in the center of town. That evening the streets were decorated and packed with people to celebrate the festival of St Francis. They even broadcast mass on street speakers all over town. ... and came across an old man collecting snails; he had about 2 gallons so far in a large plastic bag. He was very industrious and excited about the future of his snails.
