Train one hour out to varenna on lake como. Weather fine again, lake is clear n blue. Varenna is small village across from Bellagio. Very cute on hill side, ferry takes you across to other villages. Birthday celebrations in the mountains
Morning was cloudy and cool - about 4°. We went to breakfast at Muellers as it was Fides' birthday today. Great spread to start the day. Rang Omi and she also spoke with Fides and Andrea. She was pleased to hear we were having a great time with family.

Villa Carlotti
... is good here thankfully but the shower cubicle is tiny-actually this has been the case everywhere except Florence-so it's a bit squeezy in there - good thing I'm not a huge person!
Then we set off at 11.05 into Bellagio to catch the 11.40 ferry across to Cardenabbia which is the ferry stop for Villa Carlotta, in the next village of Tremezzo. The ferry cost, again, 27euro for the 3 of us return, for the 5 minute ferry ride accross the lake. ...
