    After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...

    ... maybe driving on the hard shoulder might be more fun and drove a mile or two on that! I have never see such aggressive driving…speeding up behind you and flashing until you move over, even when you are doing 30km over the speed limit.
