... in that the food is very nice, and very rich, and we are pretty sick of it. Salads and soups are very popular with us during the day. Dinner we pick. We are cooks, cleaners, fixers, helpers, arrangers, shoulders, information service and general dogs bodies.Its not glamorous, or well paid. Be fair to say that PJ does the bulk of the work downstairs, and I mostly prep, cook, clean up stairs.

Oops, no notes again! Refuge Elena quite new and modern. Large dorms but partitioned into bunks of 4. Located on a high ridge overlooking the valley, where we had a long break and arvo tea. Met some interesting groups of Italians, see the funny hats. It seems that all of Italy has these 2 weeks off, so the trails and refuges are full. Dinner in a lovely dining room, food pasta as usual. ...

A few days later, we drove to the beautiful city of Basel, divided by the river Rhine in full flow from the melting snow in the Alps. Luckily for us, we where invited to the Basel Tattoo and where surprised to see the Adelaide Police brass band.
