Too soon it's time to decide on a place to sleep. We opt for another night in a hotel and head to a movie theater. This time it's stadium seating for the Vegas magic themed movie Now You See Me. Not a bad way to spend an evening....

... there is to say about the park except that it appeared to live up to Eli's wildest expectations. There were life-size lego animals and people everywhere. Our first ride was a Safari Ride and all around our track were life size lego animals, giraffes; pandas, lions, wildebeest, etc... It was a bit strange seeing all of these animals in lego style just one day after seeing them in real life at the Zoo, but we quickly adjusted.

After going through the turnstiles Aria was raring to immediately ride something and the first thing that caught her eye was this tall “sky cruiser” ride in the middle of the park. ... and he was very keen to go on! When we got up to the top of the Roller Coaster, right before the big drop, we told him to scream as loud as he could................and he did! Once we got to the bottom, he wasn't too happy but thought it was all over (well we all did actually). Then the carriage went inside the building and up a lift before dropping us down the other side. Lets just say that by the end of the ride, he didn't want to talk to his mother!! But ...

Stay somewhere else!
We attended a conference there on Sept 25, 2003. There were still under going some major renovations. Self parking is a big issue. Unless you valet park its going to cost you $20.00 a day. The young workers who shuttle the golfers to their cars are not very friendly, they pass by you without offering a lift to the parking lot. Take advantage of their facilities, ie "work out gym" you will get charge a $15.00 fee even if you don't use it.Stay somewhere else, with all the construction going on it would be best to spend your money elsewhere.
I just returned from a 6 day stay at La Costa which I chose mainly to see the Acura tennis classic. The service was very poor and everything was totally disorganized. When we arrived we were told that we could not park near our room, but we would be able to obtain a shuttle to the pool, restaurant, tournament, etc. We soon found that it was totally impossible to get a shuttle. We would call as much as 30 minutes in advance, and simply couldn't get any service. On one occasion (Saturday night) the tournament wasn't finished until 11:30 PM and as a single female I had to walk a long distance back to my room alone in the dark after trying unsuccessfully to obtain a shuttle. Each time I would approach an employee they would tell me that they were occupied. There was an employee strike while we were there, and this only made matters worse. I came to relax and have a good time, but everything was an ordeal and I returned to Colorado totally stressed out. I will never go back. I did know in advance that the resort was under construction, and this was not in itself a problem. I just had no idea that there would be such chaos and lack of service. While at the hotel I learned that many other guests had similar experiences and were not planning to come back. One other example, I went to a yoga class that started 15 minutes late, and the teacher also ended the class 10 minutes early, so a class that was listed as 50 minutes turned out to be 25 minutes--no apologies or acknowledgement from the teacher.

Hotel very dis-organized, No service, couldn't even show us where the room was. Spa is wonderful if you like cockroaches and ants crawling around. Place is under construction which they did not tell us about when we called.
Definitely not worth the price.
I booked the room with this hotel before discovering this forum and decided to take a chance. Boys!! it was a big mistake. As one of the reviewers had said, they nickle and dime you to death. The hotel is understaffed and the service is horrible. I had to wait 30 minutes for vallet parking service to retrieve my car. The carpet in the room was wet and the refrigerator in the room was not working. For $270 a night (including tax and misc fees), definitely not worth the price.
I absolutely loved this place! Our room had one of the best bathrooms I've ever seen (it was bigger than some hotel rooms I've stayed in!) The amenities were great......bath salts, spa quality bath gels and lotions, herb teas... even a candle was provided. The food was incredible. We had room service twice and ate in the restaurant......everything was fabulous. The staff was great. I couldn't have asked for anything more. This is my new favorite hotel!! I can't wait to go back!
Arrived at spa to find enormous amount of construction going on. Stepped over water hoses and through water to get to lobby. Taken to a room in between two rooms that were being renovated. Paint smell was so bad, tried to open patio doors (no patio furniture) but they were painted shut. Finally got doors unstuck only to find that they still wouldn't open because the doors needed to be shaved at the bottom. The deck did overlook the golf course only to reveal that it was in pretty bad shape after being torn up for some piping. Reached for a soda from the mini-bar refrigerator and they were hot. Went to the front desk to ask for another room. We were shown two other rooms of equal status and went back to front desk. The Manager was unwilling to even come out front and "Joe" behind the desk said, "Sorry 'bout that." We asked for a refund of our deposit and were told it would be mailed to us. It's more than a week later and no refund. Called the 800 number and got a person who transferred me to a person who transferred me to a voice mail. On a good note, we left La Costa and went to Hotel Del Coronado where they know how to treat their guests. I would highly recommend it!
They Nickel and Dime you to death!
Very expensive. $15/day Incidental fee. Other than to help cover the cost of the supposed "complimentary" daily USA Today, I'm not sure what this was even for. $16 for valet parking. $11 for pancakes. $5 for a half of grapefruit. And if nothing else, DON'T use their phones. We called a friend in San Diego and spoke for about 5 minutes. $22.50!!! Unbelievable.
This hotel is under renovation and they have done very little to lessen the impact to guests. Further hotel employees have been picketing the hotel for better wages/benefits. Which certianly impacts their attitutude and service. Disappointing and disgraceful !!
Great Resort, Terrible Spa
I agree with Anonymous about the Spa - it was definitely not a 4 star spa. In fact, it only gets 1 star in my book. However, the rest of the Resort, including the golf and the restaurant, was first class. I had a truly enjoyable time at the Resort, but would not consider going back to the Spa until the renovation is complete in late Summer.
I just returned from a trip to carlsbad, california,where I had the pleasure of staying at a true 5 star resort-The Four Seasons Aviara. I made a fatal mistake , however-I decided to give the "five star resort"La Costa a visit. I booked a day at the spa and was horrified at what I experienced. The bathrobes were threadbare and a dingy grey color. The "lounge" area was a dark room with four rattan chairs around an outdated gas fireplace-the upholstery on the chairs was stained beyond help. I could go on and on-this is an absolute rip off! To charge 120 US dollars for this is nonsense. The hotel is in the process of building a new spa right now-however I am sick and tired of hotels riding on their laurels of a five star rating. It isn't a five star resort-stop charging like it! Take my advice folks, keep your money in your pocket and look for another choice of a spa in the area. I will never return!
