We've made it to France! We travelled down to Plymouth last night and stayed in a ropey hotel - very Faulty Towers! After checking in we were both a bit worried about the bikes on top of the car so went out to get them in the pouring rain and kept them in our room. When we got up this morning the rain was still going but we managed to put the bikes back on the car and get to the ferry port without any problems. On my last evening in Saumur I ended up socialising at a couple of other motorhomes and didn't get back to my van until around midnight. Then it was very hot and the upshot was a disturbed night's sleep which meant I didn't feel too wonderful the next morning. The group has a booking on a restaurant boat moored in the river port tonight. We have a big ride planned for tomorrow, 65kms or thereabouts and the day is forecast to be 31degrees. I hope the bits that are sore tonight are less sore tomorrow ...
After leaving Marseille I was directed to stay below 600' and follow the coast west - oh what a shame! Just spectacular, it was fairly overcast, so colours weren't quite popping, but were some sights that I wasn't expecting, as I thought of the French med coast as all built up.
