... the whole of Europe was in Renaissance foment, a boiling cauldron of intrigue and war.

Those with some passing familiarity with Renaissance history know of the Medicis and Borgias; those with a little more information perhaps know of the Sforzas. Caterina was a Medici and a Sforza and for nine days was raped by Cesare Borgia, the brother of Lucrezia Borgia and son of Roderigo Borgia, Pope Alexandria VI, one of the most notorious popes of the Catholic ...

We woke up to a beautiful vista from our balcony that overlooked the valley towards to sea. San Marino has a population of 30 000 and is tax free. They didn't seem to mind us sitting in the back of the church with a number of other tourists. We also visited the ...

... I'm getting pretty ****** off with the lack of information/consultation.

In the event it's my navi that has a nearby B&B logged. So I am invited to lead the way.
The first location doesn't seem to exist. I find another B&B nearby, down a dark lane. The other two have turned round and are accelerating away. I chase them and they finally pull ...

Today we descended from San Marino to the sea. We reached the ocean at the town of Cattolica. Enroute we crossed 700 kilometers since beginning our cycling journey in Innsbruck just over a week ago. We found full on summer. This Saturday afternoon, the beaches were full with sun bathers and ...
