Pretty drive down, last bit in the dark as decided to leave at last minute, abandoning plans to go inland in search of quetzales.
As dusk falling passed through more oil palm plantations - the older ones have beautiful 2 storey wooden homes for their employees centred around a green, which in practice ends up being a football field.
Was directed to the only cheap hotel in town "al fondo" but no sign - good job I asked as I discovered in the morning, if ...
... to get to the free beach access and aa slightly shorter one returning from the main park entrance which was closer to the action - worth investing 2-3 bucks each way on a taxi.
The Whales Tail, a rocky promontory shaped as described, was supposedly good for snorkelling but trying to get to the outside edge was risky on the large expanse of jagged rock, yet alone trying to enter in all that surge - you would need fins with booties and to be brave or stupid ...
... figured it was a fuel issue. Now, a few days later, we relize the problem was not Wesley but bad fuel. White smoke, which we were blowing, is a sign of too much water in the fuel. Of course we had to get the bad Diesel right before going over the Moutain of Death! Luckily Wesley is running fine now.
That night we parked in the middle of a pineapple field own buy yours truly, Del Monte. I never thought we would be enjoying Del Monte for it's beautiful sunset's!
... and I wouldn't have gone around alone. We keep getting offered drugs (mainly Shane) and with the amount of Americans here - who are drunk/looking like idiots you can tell the locals harbour some resentment. It doesn't help that they then treat the locals like they are children who cant understand because they don't know English that well. Quite embarrassing really. The beach is great though the sand is not white (but not black). Coffee is like water here, its great and we ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica shanemilli... it was playa Hermosa. The waves were large and the current was powerful. Me and the guys went in the water with caution, but it was awesome! The sand is dark because of the volcanic history of that beach. The ATV tours will allow you to see the beauty and feel, smell, and taste the salt air. Make sure you bring a camera that is water proof and some drinking water.

Jaco, Costa Rica hcdalmau12... the morning, not sure what to expect of Nicaragua. The road was the worst yet. Huge potholes, where there was pavement, the rest dirt or gravel. After about 20 miles it turned into great pavement through what has turned out to be one of the more scenic places on the trip. The road took us around this very large volcano (I´ll get the name later) which still has steam comming out of it. Unbelievably beautful, and clean. Very surprising. We were reminded again of why you don ...
Jaco, Costa Rica dstrp... y buen vino Argentino (24 dól.)
Costa Rica, Costa Rica viajando... squeezes through the bus and collects fares. He also helps with heavy loads, like 50 kilo bags of beans that need to hoisted onto the roof. The bus also has a sound system. Conductors and sound systems must be mandated by law, because as i will soon learn, every bus has them, along with a fully functional air horn which the driver uses to signal other passing buses and trucks, say hello to the folks waving as we drive by, or just keep beat to the music. All ...
