      ... try the path back, hopping the train when we ran out of energy. The plan got a little easier when we realized the two middle paths were closed. They had a major storm last fall that caused serious damage to Monterosso, and all but washed away the next town (Vernazzo). It, and subsequent rains, also caused landslides between the towns.
