... finally decided, I headed back to the hostel and got ready for the free group salsa lesson. The lesson was fun but it was really just a means to get people to sign up for the private lessons, which I intended to do anyway. The instructors were amazing though. Very professional. The guy (Victor) was tossing the girl around with such ease. It was really cool to see in person. After the lesson, I signed up for ...

... the bouncer's offer of free wine. We then went to a salsateca, enticed by an offer of free aguardiente by a group of men. The dancing in Cali is incredible, and the salsa dancing in particular is out of this world. It is so difficult as a group of girls to refuse drinks without insulting the locals. We have learnt to deal with this custom, as they have explained that they just want to show us the best time and give us a good image of Colombia.

... stayed longer in Cali as I had a great final day there but I was a bit hasty in booking my bus as soon as I arrived! Lesson learnt…

I arrived in Medellin at 8am and was immediately greeted by a very friendly (and helpful) tourist information man followed by 2 other friendly Columbians who chatted with me over breakfast! As soon as breakfast was over I realised that my latest friend just wanted a free cab ride… Surprise surprise… But I couldn’t ...
