My last two days in Tenerife

... some consultations. I definitely had a good time in Gynecology, and witnessing the C. Sections definitely helped confirm my decision to become a doctor. Though I missed shadowing, I knew I couldn't miss my final opportunity to teach in Base5, so at about 12:30, I dressed myself up and ran over to the hospital--for what would ultimately be my last time. I had lunch with my friends, and Ashley and I ran up to the 7th floor to have our final teaching session. Máximo and Teresa (two ...

... Child Psychiatry and Pediatrics, leaving the residency with certification in all three specialties. This is a very exciting opportunity to not only specialize, but also to generalize and provide primary care services to the developing children of our nation (while also improving early intervention in mental health disorders). Luckily the current wasn't that strong where we were, so we all made it out and back to the shore. I had a really good time with the other fellows, and I got an awesome work out and tan, so it was a successful beach day for sure! We had lunch at this little restaurant about an hour away from the beach, where we ate fried chicken and potatoes. It was one of the best meals we've eaten ...

Week 4

... to experience my time here more.

This week I'm in internal medicine, which I was skeptical about before this trip. I've shadowed an internist before (although only once for a few hours), and though I recognized the importance of the specialty, I never saw myself generalizing the way internists must. You basically get to be a jack of all trades and a master of none, which is why primary care never appealed to me. This week has changed my mind--at least ...
