My last two days in Tenerife

... and get dressed up for dinner. Avi, Angela and I decided to leave the beach and head back to La Laguna for some Barraquitos. We got to have some great conversations about the tough life of a premed and the hardships of science research, and we enjoyed giggling obnoxiously at all the dogs that walked by in the street. Along the way, I picked up a nice little gift for my girlfriend, and I realized that I had left my Sperry's at the beach...oops!

... before. We arrived at the unit at about 8:15 as we always do, and we spent about 45 minutes in the morning meeting where all the doctors gather together to discuss various patients and particularly challenging cases. Luckily the current wasn't that strong where we were, so we all made it out and back to the shore. I had a really good time with the other fellows, and I got an awesome work out and tan, so it was a successful beach day for sure! We had lunch at this little restaurant about an hour away from the beach, where we ate fried chicken and potatoes. It was one of the best meals we've eaten ...

Week 4

... to experience my time here more.

This week I'm in internal medicine, which I was skeptical about before this trip. I've shadowed an internist before (although only once for a few hours), and though I recognized the importance of the specialty, I never saw myself generalizing the way internists must. You basically get to be a jack of all trades and a master of none, which is why primary care never appealed to me. This week has changed my mind--at least ...
