Today was a day to chill out and relax by the pool. I didn't feel that great, and wanted a day to take it easy. So, we hiked up to the upper swimming pool (the one with a view) and hung out there most of the day. The view from the upper pool is very nice. Around lunch time, Sue hiked back down, had lunch with the staff, and then brought an amazing …

La Casella, the beautiful Horse Farm

This day started with breakfast at the train station in Monterosso after lugging our (now heavier) bags to the station. Orvieto...we don't want to leave!

We had a lovely week and a half hanging out here. In Rome it was about the sites and history. In Orvieto it has been about the people and slowing down. We met really wonderful people here and that made Orvieto feel more like home.

First of all, Susan from Santa Barbara shared her home with us. Then, Victoria took us all around and introduced us to all her Italian friends ...

... kind of beautiful Orvieto lace. It was a wonderful morning and we enjoyed eating the fruits of our labor!

Later in the afternoon, we headed out to the countryside and visited Victoria's house in the next town over. It is situated on a hill overlooking Orvieto to one side and the beautiful Umbrian hills and valleys to the other. We walked among the vineyards and enjoyed seeing the signs of spring along the road.
