Arequipa the White City
A nice leisurely morning in Cusco before we took our short flight to Arequipa in Southern Peru, built at the foot of El Misti Volcano. Our hotel is yet again fabulous, (La Casa de mi Abuela Hostal 3 stars on Ave Jerusalen 606 telephone 51.51.241.206 email lacasa@terra.com.pe) it has very ornate gardens and small rooms, it is a bit of a maze to …
October 7 Huancayo
I´m staying at Casa de la Abuela in Huancayo, in one of the dorm rooms with 5 other people. This city is beautiful! The altitude is about 3500 Meters... and coming from Lima overnight I´m feeling pretty tired, especially since my overnight bus was full of sad babies and I didn´t get a minute of sleep. Luchos, the son of the woman who started this …
´My City, the White City`
Sleepily disembarking from our night bus (far nicer than National Express), we dropped off our bags and began a dishelvelled exploration of Arequipa, the White City. Our one-day time frame pushed showers low on the priority list, despite Arequipa being reknowned for having sun for 360 days of the year. An affluent and beautiful city carved from …

Our hostel was fantastic and had beautiful gardens and a swimming pool! (bonus!) There were Humming Birds buzzing about the garden – it was all very surreal after the long time we had …
First Week in Arequipa

I really miss the ocean. It's not like I went often when I was in San Francisco, but it was always there, just a 5-10 minute car-ride or a 45 minute walk. But my …

Nice hostal. Comfy rooms and set in a beautiful courtyard. We were there in low season so it wasn't too busy and the bar / restaurant didn't seem too geared up for visitors. Don't get your laundry done here. We were waiting til almost midnight to get it back. Overall a lovely stay though.
