... unconvincing and the 'nail' was just a rock standing on it's end. We visited a vineyard near cafayate for a quick glass of wine and tour before lunch, everyone was shepherded into a pricey looking restaurant on th main plaza so we escaped down a side street and instead ate at a little empanadas house. Our favourite!
Sad to leave such a nice group of people but a great couple of days. Just Mendoza left before I have to fly home which is rubbish.

Eventually we reach arguably the most scenic part of the route the Quebrada de las Flechas ( the ravine of arrows) where the rocks have been formed by erosion into arrowhead shapes. We climb up to a mirador to take in the views and take some photographs of this incredibly beautiful but barren landscape. Overview: So we have heard quite a bit about Salta and its surrounding area but also that to really appreciate it you really need a car. After somewhat regretting not getting a car and driving through the lakes while in Bariloche we decided to take the plunge this time. It is something never us will regret or forget.
