Warm food, warm hearts

... Thank goodness I don’t live in Paris because I would just eat baguettes and cheese all day and all night.

When my uncle returned from his trip, we went on an outing to the local brewery and picked up a 6pack of the local beer. I guess Chris enjoyed them because they are all gone. We all went out for Chinese buffet to satisfy a craving we had been having and boy did they have good desserts or what!

So a whole week in Paris and all we did was eat really. This isn’t ...

A lot of walking and waiting...all worth it!

... had no curtain, then went out on the town. It was the Eiffel Tower we were heading for, this was around 5pm. A few issues with getting mixed up on the metro and a walk down a street filled with tourists like ourselves along with dozens of mini eiffel tower vendors...and there we were, looking up at the massive structure. After we collected ourselves, we got in a line to get to the top of the tower ...

The City of Romance and Lights

July 2, 2009

Hello, from Paris! I sadly admit that I have moved on from my Greek Island hopping spree (which was wonderful) and have since landed in Grand Old Paris for a few days. Andrew has flown home to Calgary in the pursuit of higher education, but the three weeks we spent travelling through Turkey and Greece will always remain, in our minds, the most amazing 3 weeks of our lives (thank you Andrew!)

... and now, a little about Paris ...

The 'Darker' Side of Paris

... After that it was the Moulin Rouge then on to the greatest monument to spending I've ever seen.... a place called La Fayette. It is a huge mall filled with only French designers products and very very busy. Homeless line the streets outside while people get a good deal (300E) for Gucci bags etc. I just don't get it. We've been here a week and have hardly touched the surface of this amazing city. In June we will come back and enjoy Paris in the early Summer.

Welcome to Paris!

... as a palace & over the years as the Kings were there they all added their own little bit to it, it now spans 800m long & has obviously since been turned into the museum. It has over 450,000 pieces but only about 35,000 are on display. We saw the Venus de Milo & of course the Mona Lisa. I can see why some people get disappointed with it cause it is quite small but we were already aware of it's size so there was no let down. We went back to the Eiffel Tower ...

Day 6 - May 28, 2008 - Bon Jour Paris!

... until 10p. Thats amazing!!! Of course, for Sofia, who has trouble keeping track of time as it is, this does not bode well. She thinks its 5p when its 9p. Our first day in Paris, we headed to a cafe close by called Cafe Aigle. I particularly liked their Croque. Later in the evening, we walked to the Eiffel Tower, and took a cruise along River Seine. It was a very refreshing one-hour ride that passes by some very ...

Busy, Busy

Thing have been quite hectic here since my last entry. After the last day of touring, we came back to the hostel to relax and wash clothes. We then met the first people that we have actually been able to talk with. The two guys were our roommates and were from Brazil. Rodrigo and Aerio are both pharmacists in San Paulo, and their job is to research for new medicines. We sat down in the bar at the hostel discussing different cultures, where both of us had been and were ...

Paris: A Bookworm's Perspective

... I couldn't go away for at least an hour because seriously, there was every book I ever dreamed about. Eventually, I had to go away, but not before I bought Edgar Poe translated by Charles Baudelaire and poems of Rimbaud. Afterwards, we went to the Luxembourg Garden because that's where Hemingway went to as he described in his book "Movable Feast". It would have been a much more interesting experience, if it had been summer, because in winter ...

Paris - Tower, France Semi's! July 2 +

... or soccer), and it was incredible to hear literally all of Paris ERUPT in cheer and noise while overlooking this amazing city. There is no words that come to mind at the moment to express what it was like being in Paris - even though I have my run in with the French militia, witnessing the police pull out a drowning victim from the Seine and getting lost in a big way 3 times. So much fun. This morning (Sun 2 July) I ...
