... Given the number of incidents in the tunnel over the past couple of years I suspect the track is not being maintained as it should be. Nevertheless we had time to eat our sandwiches during the journey and I was able to fit the continental deflectors to the headlamps.

... half way through the night the van was swaying so much we got out in PJ's and moved the van behind a bigger van to protect us a bit (we are always the smallest van by far in these places as loads of massive campervans everywhere bigger than mums!!) - this helped a bit but still battered all night leaving us with little sleep!

so we have moved on...having not got in the water yet...for fear of dying if we try it is so rough!! and loosing our nerve for surfing as ...

... side was the sea and as far as you could see the other way was forest. We didn’t realise you only got half an hour free parking so we literally ran up to the top and back down before we were charged!

On the way to Socoa we passed Bearitz and Bayonne but didn’t stop at them. Our campsite was right on the sea, but when we arrived it was so wet we didn’t care about that. Thankfully the rest of our stay there ...
