... bunk just to poke her awake, but when i got to her bunk, I thought she had only one arm. And you can't wake a one-armed lady out of her sleep just to stop her snoring. Everyone in the room was awake at this stage, so I pretended I had to go to the toilet. My mind was making comparisons that seemed perfectly logical at the time: being one armed is certainly a disadvantage on the Camino, but so is being sleep deprived, and her snoring was just rubbing it in my face ...

... from a shorter Camino the day after.It is amazing how many people undertake the Camino on their own, equal numbers of women and men, one person in particular sticks out, in the Albergue the other day H&P met a lady (and pointed her out to us later in the day) walking with her Grandson he was only able to take time off for one week so he was leaving her that day and she is finishing the Camino alone she is 82 years old, crikey puts us to shame! Buen Camino everyone wherever you are. ...

A very long day

... but the walk was getting harder and harder.  We walked through about 2kms of mud and even trying to avoid it by walking through the turnip paddock it was still a vey long and hard slog. Finally we got to the top of the hill and saw the village but it was absolutely grim.  It was full of new houses, not occupied, all with ´For Sale´ signs and no one around. ... with their speed, so has been left to his own devices and they meet at the end of the walk. Now the interesting thing was that these chaps were actually not very Catalan at all - both by accent and by conversation. So diplomatically asking them, to avoid any of the usual Catalanist nationalist cliches that you hear when they travel around, they revealed they were actually from Salamanca but lived in Barcelona. All three of them met in a marathon running ...
