... we were greeted by the two Ugyens and spent time with Yangki (amazing) along with Terri (organizer of Bhutan Marathon).

We then returned to Bangkok for a couple of days before heading to Tokyo Japan to see Rieko's Uncle. We took several bullet trains to Rieko's fishing village of Inoura in southern Japan to visit her extended crazy and awesome family. Then we were crazy and decided to head to NYC (13 hour flight) ...

One thing we did encounter throughout Brazil was the realization that money doesn’t go a long way! Brazil was the most expensive country we visited on our tour of South America – if not the most expensive of all countries we visited. ... cold beers and is always packed. There are more people that can speak English here and a lot of Spanish speakers, who I think may be Argentinian. At night the streets are crowded and there are stalls and markets, barbequed steak and chicken kebabs and street performers. ... the beginning of a fantastic travelling partnership (insert quiet tears and sniffles here). ... as you stroll the streets is absolutely nauseating!! The city itself seems to be something of a has-been. The facades of the buildings lead you to believe that about 60 years ago or so this place was amazing and now it is a little love lost. The Carnival Nothing short of spectacular.
