First stages of planning
... s why this year I'd decided to "test the water" a bit by travelling alone to Chiang Mai, Thailand for two weeks in November 2012. Everyday I'd talk to people about their travelling experiences and get some advice from them. Hi everyone
We are still here in Torrevieja waiting for a weather window to move on. The winds have been howling and the rain beating down on us on and off since we returned. Interspersed with this has been lovely sunny days...like today. We are hoping to move on at the weekend.

On Monday we drove to Surbiton to see my son Phil, his wife Liz and the new baby Leah Jasmine. An absolute cutie and my third grandchild born on the 17th October.
Then we carried on to Northwood to see my daughter Anna and her husband Rez for the rest of the day and night. ...

... 3/4 mile off shore before we realised! Now, we are in 26 knots of wind and it's warm though! So we head in again, this time closer to the island and we hit the bottom briefly on another sandbank! It is very dark and you can hardly see anything except a black mass ahead of you. anyway, that wasn't a problem and we drop anchor again.
