        ... Our destination for the day was to see the outdoor escalators in the comuna 13. Our research indicated that this is one of the poorest and most dangerous district of Medellin. As such we followed the warnings and left any valuables at the hostel. We only took with us our camera, some cash and a fake wallet.

        ... 8K. So we went over the bridge and started to climb. The first part was very steep with some serious switchbacks. Imagine this now, switchbacks with big semis, propane trucks, box trucks coming in both directions and a very small shoulder that often disappeared. It was so scary at first.         ... city centre to potter around there for an hour or so but most places were closed and it wasn{t the safest or nicest área so we got the metro back home. We stopped off at a supermarket and bought some supplies to make our dinner and then spent the evening taking it easy as Monday is going to be a busy day as we are hoping to do two tours back to back before we get the overnight bus to Bogota.

        ... Really clean but almost American feeling streets, cafes and restaurants, I think this would be a cool place to live if you wanted to stay in Colombia. The next day we caught the metro to the cable car which travels out from the city and over the hillside urban sprawl.         ... a man suspended in air – this really intrigued me since I had never seen anything like that before. Christmas lights were still up which made the whole place so festive.
