... Our destination for the day was to see the outdoor escalators in the comuna 13. Our research indicated that this is one of the poorest and most dangerous district of Medellin. As such we followed the warnings and left any valuables at the hostel. We only took with us our camera, some cash and a fake wallet.

We then headed into the metro station to buy our metro ticket. We bought "integrado" tickets which meant that we could use it for the metro ...

Imagine this now, switchbacks with big semis, propane trucks, box trucks coming in both directions and a very small shoulder that often disappeared. It was so scary at first. ... Really clean but almost American feeling streets, cafes and restaurants, I think this would be a cool place to live if you wanted to stay in Colombia. The next day we caught the metro to the cable car which travels out from the city and over the hillside urban sprawl. The simple houses there have been built on slopes so steep that its a miracle they are all still standing. The cable car offered spectacular views and the bonus was that it cost the price of ...

... a man suspended in air – this really intrigued me since I had never seen anything like that before. Christmas lights were still up which made the whole place so festive. We walked around shopping a little, and bought a beautiful scarf for myself. We then went to our next stop , a little restaurant to have some appetizers right infront of the plaza. We met 2 more of his friends there and had such a good time so we forced them to join us for dinner at a restaurant ...
