LaLaanta Hideaway Resort

A short ferry crossing from PP and we arrived in Koh Lanta. We didn't have any accomodation booked but on the boat across we met a guy selling taxi transfer who had a resort. Or so he claimed. He offered to take us free of charge and show us.
So we took the free taxi to the resort and the pictures were correct. It was a pleasant resort with a swimming pool and beach. He gave us the room for 550 Baht, £10 for ...
... The one that was left looked like a big black wolf who was such a softie and good natured. With this dilemma of not being able to walk away, and we couldn't choose between the two...after careful consideration we have ended up adopting both dogs called Franky and Lady Lanta who will be flown back to the UK when we return from our travels and to enjoy a better life that they are in much need of! We extended our stay in Koh Lanta to visit our 2 hairy ...
With a good breakfast by the sea we decide to see the receptionist about making our way to our next port of call which is the tiny little speck of an island Ko Lipe. There is method in our madness as we intend to cross the border between Thailand and Malaysia from here by catching another ferry to Langkawi. But back to today. We have been taking the local ferries which have been regular, air conditioned and reliable, but to get to Koh Lipe we have two options. We can ...

We was lucky to stumble across a real authentic local Thai market selling all the fresh fruit and veg, cooked foods and loads and loads of fish, just a shame we had already eaten but was great to see a real market rather than one just there for tourists.
We made it to the elephant park, saw the elephants and before the sun started to set much to Emma's horror we caught glimpse of some wild ...

The exit is different from the entrance. It's much lower down the mountain. The reason they start us out higher is because many people wouldn't continue if they saw the two main attractions near that lower opening, a three meter section where you need to crawl using your forearms and ...

LaLaanta was a haven for us. After our airline lost our baggage, we were lucky to be staying in a place which cares so well for its guests. Thanks to Shicko and the staff for their help.
The resort itself is gorgeous - right on the beach with glorious sunsets at night. It never felt overrun with guests and we could always find beach lounges where we wanted, either y the pool or on the beach itself.
It's such a beautiful place, we hope to return one day.
