Just 15 km walk and 600 meters or so climb - we decided enough for day one ;) So stopping the night at the Valcarlos 'auberge' - Spanish for pilgrim's hostel - only hotel in this town not open till mid-March. Spending the afternoon reading in the little local cafe - ...
... and omgd I could have spent all day in there! There were so many types of cheese and saucisson! Dips, sushi, huge butcher section and fresh seafood! So much fruit and veg too! It took us ages to decide what to get because there was do much to choose from! Even the ready made meals looked amazing eg fresh paella!
... so passed on that one. We took this photo of a fabulous sweet shop and then decided to buy a small selection. To our horror, about 30 small lollies was E10. Talk about tourist prices.
Our next trip was a long day. We decided to travel to Bilbao, in Spain to visit the Guggenheim museum of modern art. It took over 3.5hrs to get there as we had to travel on a French train, a Spanish train, a Spanish bus and then a tram. Again ...
... It seemed the best thing to do. We would get some rest, and the others could push forward from their base in Spain. Dave was already concerned with how much the camp site in Spain was costing while waiting for us to catch up, working it out to be 4 times as much as one in Morocco. I told him not to wait for us if we weren't there, just to cross without us. I was feeling guilty already about holding them up on their adventure.
