Part of the basilica was destroyed in the earthquake and the European Union provided millions of euros to repair the structure.     ... all sorts of truffle products , but I realised that I would not be able to fool those cute beagle "sniffer" dogs at Australian customs.
    So..... We settled for lunch of fresh tagliatelle laced with truffle oil and with white summer truffle shaved on top - Bellissimo !!

    ... Assissi. Of course the home of St Francis of Assissi the town is lovely perched atop the mountain But the main attraction is the Upper and Lower cathedrals built for him that house his tomb. Seems they built a gorgeous gothic church but had more funds so built another Romanesque style one on top of it! Lots of priests and monks around ...

    ... and pasta that she was in need of something different. Then we followed our noses back to the gelaterie where we smelled freshly made waffle cones. They rolled the waffle cone right in front of us. It smelled so delightful. This had to have been our 6th or 7th gelato of the trip. After walking around the shops, we met our group to take the ferry to Naples this find to meet our bus. Then we drove 3 hours back to Tome to be ready for our early morning ...

    ... of the chaos and sucked me dry. Fortunately, I had some cash locked away in my backpack. I pulled it out, purchased the train ticket and headed to the train station to keep looking. While I was sitting down going through my purse for the 50th time, a beggar came by and asked for 1 euro. In my frustration I completely went off on him and he moved on.
