When we heard about the tornado in Tupelo a few weeks ago, I had called the hotel to see if they were open, and they said they were. But just barely! We were astonished as we arrived there - the tornado destruction was only a few blocks away. Terrible ...

Because it was getting dark and there were no lights along the parkway, we ducked off at mile 203, drove through Starkville and headed to Rte 45 which would take us into Tupelo. A gift certificate was burning a hole in my wallet, so we used it at Outback for dinner. Not very original, but it was tasty. Our night's stay was at a Hampton Inn.

I talk to some of my Eastern counterparts from Calleen Petroleum (remember I am the western rep), nice fellows and they invite us for food and drinks later but we are heading to the Natchez Trace scenic drive today!
